KHORI is the new stainless steel bollard for lighting pathways and gardens from the STRAL collection.

It has a 360° diffuse light emission and is developed in 4 different heights and two different sizes. The volumes emphasise the clean lines, a distinctive theme of the entire collection.

KHORI is an outdoor LED bollard with IP66 rating, the different heights 30 cm, 50 cm, 70 cm and 90 cm meet various design requirements.

The fact that it is made of AISI 316L stainless steel also makes it ideal for those residential contexts near maritime areas or in the mountains where in winter the paths are often covered with snow and ice.

How to illuminate pathways and gardens with KHORI bollard from STRAL

The importance of using outdoor pathway lights that wisely illuminate outdoor areas of the home or public pathways plays a key role in ensuring the safety of those walking along them.

Garden lights not only illuminate driveways, but also enhance the volumes of green spaces, in particular the illumination of garden trees, planted areas and shrubs.

If the driveway is a linear path, it will be important to enhance its geometry. By using the KHORI garden bollard, it is possible to highlight the pathway with diffuse lighting that also irradiates the surrounding vegetation without leaving areas of shade. Depending on the height, which we recommend is never more than 90 cm for more comfortable lighting to the eye, it will be possible to obtain more or less diffuse lighting as the height of the pole increases.

Height 90 cm - maximum intensity of light projection on the ground 1,7 m - lux average 49

Height 70 cm - maximum intensity of light projection on the ground 1,3 m - lux average 81

Height 50 cm - maximum intensity of light projection on the ground 0,9 m - lux average 160

Height 30 cm - maximum intensity of light projection on the ground 0,5 m - lux average 444

With a garden that is small in terms of area, the KHORI outdoor bollard is ideal as it illuminates both the pathway and the green areas adjacent to it. On the other hand, where the garden is very large and the pathway is a small portion of the area, it is preferable to install lamps assigned to the pathway and others dedicated to lighting the more distant areas.

If the driveway is surrounded by large areas of vegetation, we also recommend dedicated lighting for the plants and shrubs therein. It is possible in this case to use spotlights on spike such as the directional spotlight from the FOCAL line.

How to illuminate backyard

The first step is to define what to light, subdividing the different zones and finding the most appropriate luminaire.

Garden lamps are normally used to illuminate the entire pathway. KHORI, a floor lamp characterised by 360° diffuse light, positioned at the right distance to avoid creating shaded areas, wisely fulfils this task, maintaining an adequate level of illumination of the area.

To illuminate plants in their diversity, it is useful to consider their size and shape. Tall trees should be illuminated from the bottom upwards, in order to emphasise their slender forms and the texture of their branches. In this case it is preferable to use a directional spotlight that can be directed towards the plant, creating chiaroscuro between the leaves. HOKU is ideal for this type of application.

For shrubs with a height of up to 80 cm it is recommended to illuminate them from above downwards with outdoor spotlights that can enhance their shapes and colours, such as KHORI.

Warmer colours, 2700K and 3000K, are best suited for lighting gardens and relaxation areas to achieve a cosy atmosphere. For lighting architectural elements such as fountains, walls, luminaires over 4000K are usually used.
